Sony/ATV Music Publishing has announced the promotion of Jacob Fain to Sr. VP A&R, Head of Research & Analytics, based in the company’s New York head office. In addition to his senior role within Sony/ATV’s A&R team, Fain leads the Research & Analytics division, which serves eight major offices worldwide. Fain will continue to report to Danny Strick, Co-President, U.S.
Sony/ATV Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said, “Jake’s ability to recognize artists and songs that we should pursue has grown considerably as a result of both his A&R talent, and the utilization of data and research. This is a well-earned promotion.”

Further, our analytics work has modernized the artist and writer discovery process to give us the sharpest competitive edge in music publishing and allow us to better serve the creative community.”
Fain’s decade-long tenure with Sony/ATV began as Manager of A&R before being promoted to VP, A&R. Since joining the company, his signings have included Grammy-winning act The Chainsmokers, R&B/soul star Leon Bridges, alternative group Of Monsters And Men and Chase Rice who co-wrote the Florida Georgia Line hit “Cruise,” the biggest-selling country digital download of all time in the U.S. with over 7.6 million sales. Fain also signed emerging hip-hop artist Russ who was one of the most-streamed acts of last year in the U.S. and whose debut album, There’s Really A Wolf, made theBillboard Top 10 and was RIAA-certified for 500,000 sales.
In overseeing Sony/ATV’s Research & Analytics department, he leads a team that has modernized the process of music discovery and evaluation for Sony/ATV, allowing the company to find songwriters and artists faster and assess deals more accurately.
